What was this slithering surprise doing in the Knesset?

When Knesset Speaker Yuli Edelstein's adviser David Zviel brought his son to work on Wednesday, he didn't expect it to be a visit to the zoo - at least not in the literal sense.

Zviel's son spotted a surprise guest in the Knesset's Chagall Hall, near a mosaic on the floor: A snake.

The non-poisonous snake was stuck to a piece of double-sided tape that was used to secure the red carpet on the way to Edelstein's office for a visit from his counterpart from the Ivory Coast Wednesday, and had to be trapped and disposed of by the Knesset Guard.

The Knesset is adjacent to gardens and parks, where there are many snakes, porcupines and jackals, and the snake is not the first animal to have snuck in to the building.
